Awakening: Ultimate Healing
Weekend Workshop with Henry Shukman
November 19 – 20, 10am – 3pm MT
(Workshop is Online Only)
“With awakening, we discover that our sense of being a separate self has been a kind of illusion, and that we are intimately part of the entirety of the cosmos.
Why does this matter? In a sense, it’s the ultimate healing. It resolves our troubles, it reveals who we really, most deeply are, and can reorient us toward a life of concern and care for all beings.”
(Please note, this course is designed for all levels. We invite you to dive in, whether you’re new to meditation, or many decades down the path…)
Original Love is an integrated approach to meditation training. It leads us through mindfulness, through opening more to support, into the deeper absorption states known as samadhi, and finally to the great threshold of awakening.
It’s long been recognized that awakening is a law unto itself. No one can engineer it or call it down at will.
Yet there are tools and methods that can help us get some taste of its flavor — a glimpse of the reality of our non-separateness, of a primordial oneness that makes us intimate with the world around us, and even with the whole cosmos. No matter how slight or glancing, any glimmer of this can have a profound impact on our well-being.
The principle of Original Love is to let go of striving. We’re always coming home to ourselves, to this moment, as it is. We release any aspiration for it to be different. In doing this, we start to connect with various new ways of experiencing the here and now.
Each of these can be a gateway to a taste of awakening:
- finding a register of our awareness that is non-judgemental, peaceful, tender and broad
- recognizing that we have no clear fixed center
- coming into a presence that can spread very wide
- falling back into a loving awareness that is always already here
- releasing into mystery, into not-knowing, and learning to trust it
- the mysterious and wondrous approach of Zen koans
During this weekend workshop retreat we will explore a variety of these methods. To do this kind of practice in a gathering with other practitioners around the world can be powerful and beautiful, and can amplify the potency of the practice. It just might prove to be a life-changing event.
It’s geared for all levels of experience. Curiosity, a taste for the wonders of stillness, and a readiness to explore the deeper mysteries of our selves and our life are the key ingredients to bring!
